Well since were on the topic of the future, lets talk about future warfare. I just attended class were the teacher talked about how people will be looking for skilled gamers to work for the military. She said that gamers could easily work drones (above), or unmanned planes. That would make sense, just because there’s a lot of controls and computing involved. She even explained that in the “future”, there wont be anymore sending out soldiers, but machines and, I guess, robots. Well, you’ve seen the movies, with robot wars and computer domination. I totally understand this strategy of letting technology fight for us. But of course there’s the disadvantage. Anything is possible with machines and robots now-a-days. You may think you’re in total control, but that’s not always the case. If robots were set to fight in war, then how long would a war last…50 years, 100years, or more? If you have the materials and equipment, why stop…who are you hurting? I’m mostly optimistic about everything, but you have to consider the consequences. The future seems so bright, but then again so scary.

Here Comes The Furture...
We watch cartoons and television to see what it’s supposed to be like in 2020, with jet packs and robot maids. But it’s already 2010 and we don’t even have flying cars. Well we have to take one step at a time and electric cars are the first step. Carlos Ghosn of Nissan says that they will release the electric car in the United States by 2010 (the pictures above). Looking at that “car”, I get kind of excited. They could’ve been made this mini cooper looking vehicle. I’ve seen a few little cars driving around, but I’m not sure if they’re electric. The whole point of having electric cars is to save money and energy. Gas prices change all the time and people have to sacrifice a lot just to put some gas in their car. Japan and China have been using small cars to save space, that’s exactly what we need over here. Maybe these little cars are easier to maneuver and then the driving age could lower =). Besides that, could you imagine…everyone with a tiny electric car? Instead of gas stations, they’d have some place where you just plug in your car and grab a bite to eat. However, I’m not sure how many men would enjoy this car since it’s not very “masculine”…well too bad. It’s about time they come up with something cute and efficient. Just give it a few years and everyone will be cruising the streets with mini electric cars.

What a Read...
I’m currently reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, for school purposes of course, and I surprisingly find it interesting. My teacher, Ms. Turman has us read about a chapter everyday and sometimes I fall into the next chapter, without realizing. Well of course there are some passages that I can’t bare to read, but I manage. So far, I’ve read that this young boy from the country has faked his own death and run away. Then he meets a slave and they live on an island hiding from the world. And I know how that sounds, but the things that occur during the book with “Huck Finn” are amazing and make you think. I have English next and I’m using sparknotes right now to help me understand the last chapter. My teacher doesn’t even mind us doing that and I think that’s good. You can’t understand everything on your own; it’s good to get help. I usually don't like being "forced" to read a book. That way takes all the fun out. I'm not even into those "adult books", I like anything that can keep my attention. But anyway, back to the book...since it involves a slave and people from the south, the dialog is very different. But I actually like it. Here's a line, "De bes' way is to res' easy en let de ole man take his own way..." It gets more difficult, depending on who's talking...but all you need to do is take your time and read. I wouldn't say that I'm recommending this book, because this isn't something I'd read in my spare time...but it just shows that next time your teacher hands you a "classic" book, it might be a good read =)

Oprahs New Show
Last year November, Oprah announced that the Oprah winfrey show will go off the air and the whole world stopped. Since then, everyone’s been trying to squeeze in their last share of “Oprah’s wisdom”. She believed that it was right, explaining, “Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and feels right in my spirit.” Anyway, now she’s planning on doing a show called ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’. I thought she was going to retire, but I can’t blame her. After 25 years, I wouldn’t want to stop either. Wall street journal reports that Oprah will be traveling to places like china and India, along with her guests and even her viewers!! But how much would that ticket be? Well maybe its all on her, who knows. She’s supposed to announce the new hour long series today. Personally speaking, I think she’s too rich.

Brainstorm
For the class magazine I want to do a movie review for why did I get married too? I saw the movie on Sunday and I loved it. I thought it would’ve been something for adults only, but it wasn’t. I have a lot to say about this movie and I’m sure people can relate to my opinions. I want to stay within the entertainment topic because that’s what I do best, I believe. I’m not sure that this will take up a whole page. However, I’m going to add some background and my opinion will take up room. I’m not sure about any other topics.
